How we test, verify, and rank

Most “best alternatives” articles are affiliate listicles with stale pricing and no screenshots. We built this site to be the opposite: a source you can check. Here is exactly how every page is made.

1. How we choose the alternatives

For each tool, we start from the full set of credible competitors named on vendor comparison pages, in community discussions, and across the category, then shortlist the options a real buyer would actually evaluate. We deliberately include strong newer or smaller tools, not just the incumbents, because that is where most listicles fall short.

2. How we verify facts

Every factual claim, pricing, free tiers, founding year, last product update, is sourced from the vendor's own website, documentation, changelog, or a reputable public source. Each price carries the date we checked it and a link to where we checked it. A separate review pass re-opens every source to confirm the claim before a page is published. Anything we cannot verify, we leave out rather than guess. When pricing is quote-only, we say so, because that itself is useful to know.

3. Screenshots

We capture screenshots of the actual product and pricing pages, and we date every image. When a vendor offers official press or media assets, we prefer those. Over time this gives every profile a dated visual record you will not find on aggregator sites.

4. How we reach a verdict

We do not hide behind “it depends.” Every guide opens with a plain-language verdict: which tool is right for which kind of buyer, and when you are better off staying where you are. Those verdicts follow only from the verified data, and different situations get different answers. If a tool is the best pick for a segment, we say so; if it is not the best pick anywhere, we do not pretend otherwise.

5. How we stay current

Pricing pages change constantly. We re-verify pricing and product-update data on a rolling schedule and monitor vendor pricing pages for changes between full reviews. The “verified” date on each page is real: we only move it forward when we have actually re-checked.

6. How we make money (and how we don't)

We never accept payment for rankings or verdicts. No vendor can pay to place higher, be added, or change what we write. If we ever add affiliate links or clearly-labelled promoted placements, they will never sit inside a ranked list and never influence a verdict, and this page will say so.

Corrections policy

Found something wrong or out of date? Tell us and we will fix it fast. We would rather be corrected than be wrong. Vendors are welcome to flag inaccuracies about their own product; corrections are reviewed against source before we publish them.
