Circle is a platform for running a paid membership community. You get discussions, courses, live events, and a member directory in one branded space, plus a website builder so the community can be the whole product rather than a bolt-on to something else.
It is built for creators, coaches, and companies who charge for access and want to own the member relationship instead of renting an audience on social platforms. Recent releases have pushed further into AI (auto-generating community structure and content) and into automation through Workflows, which sit behind the higher-priced Business plan.

Who it's for
- ✓ Creators and coaches selling a paid membership or cohort-based course
- ✓ Teams that want courses, discussions, and events under one brand instead of stitching together separate tools
- ✓ Communities that will grow past a few hundred members and need real admin and API access
Who should look elsewhere
- ✗ Very small or free communities, since there is no free plan and the entry price is $89 to $99/month
- ✗ Anyone who wants automation (Workflows) without paying for the $199+/month Business tier
- ✗ Communities that process a lot of member payments and want to avoid Circle's own transaction fee on top of Stripe's
Pros
- + Combines community, courses, events, and a website builder so you are not paying for and connecting several separate tools
- + Workflows and APIs (Business plan) let you automate onboarding, tagging, and notifications without a separate automation tool
- + Regular feature releases, most recently a bigger push into AI-assisted community setup and content
Cons
- – Advertised prices ($89 Professional, $199 Business) are the annual rate. Paying month to month costs more ($99 and $219)
- – Basic automation (Workflows) is locked behind the $199+/month Business plan, not available on Professional
- – Circle adds its own transaction fee (0.5-2%) on top of Stripe's processing fees, which is not shown clearly on the pricing page
- – No free plan, so there is no way to try Circle with real members beyond the 14-day trial
Circle pricing
At about $89/month to start, it is one of the cheaper options in Community Platforms.

Professional lists at $89/month and Business at $199/month, but that is the annual-billing rate. Paying month to month costs more: $99/month for Professional and $219/month for Business, per Circle's own pricing page. Circle Plus is quote-only. On top of the plan fee, Circle charges its own transaction fee (2% on Professional, 1% on Business, 0.5% on Circle Plus) stacked on top of Stripe's processing fees, and features like Email Hub, extra admins ($10/mo each), and extra moderators ($20/mo per 10) are separate paid add-ons.
