SAP Ariba is SAP's source-to-pay suite. It covers sourcing, contract management, procurement (buying), invoicing, spend analysis, and supplier risk management. It runs on top of the SAP Business Network, a multi-tenant network SAP says connects millions of buyer and supplier accounts. That's what sets Ariba apart from most other procurement suites: onboarding a new supplier can mean connecting to a company already on the network instead of building an integration from scratch.

In 2026 SAP is rolling out a 'Next-Gen SAP Ariba' rebuild on SAP Business Technology Platform, moving the product to a modern architecture with a unified launchpad, a central intake point for spend requests, and Joule AI agents for tasks like bid analysis and contract review.
Each module (Sourcing, Contracts, Buying, Guided Buying, Spend Analysis, Supplier Risk, etc.) is sold and licensed separately. An Ariba deployment is really an assembly of modules chosen and priced for each customer, not one fixed product.
