What is Brevo?

Brevo (formerly Sendinblue, renamed in 2023) is a Paris-based platform that bundles email marketing, marketing automation, SMS and WhatsApp campaigns, transactional email, and a free CRM with sales pipeline tools into one account. Pricing is based mostly on contact list size and monthly email volume, not CRM seats, which sets it apart from CRM-first vendors.

The CRM and core sales tools (deal pipeline, task reminders, reporting, forecasting) come free on every plan. But sales automation workflows, unlimited deal pipelines, and extra sales seats need a separate Sales Essentials or Sales Advanced add-on. That makes Brevo cheaper to start with for a marketing-led small business, though the CRM itself is thinner out of the box than a dedicated sales CRM.

Who it's for

  • Small businesses and solopreneurs who want email marketing, SMS/WhatsApp, and a basic CRM in one low-cost tool
  • Teams whose costs should scale with contact and email volume, not per-seat CRM licenses
  • Companies already using Brevo for transactional email or marketing automation who want the CRM in the same account

Who should look elsewhere

  • Sales teams that need a mature, sales-first CRM with deep pipeline customization out of the box (the CRM here is a free add-on, not the core product)
  • Enterprises that need complex approval chains, advanced role hierarchies, or deep third-party CRM integrations at scale
  • Teams that want predictable per-seat pricing instead of pricing tied to contact and email volume

Pros

  • + Free plan stores up to 100,000 contacts and includes a CRM and up to 300 emails a day, no credit card needed
  • + One platform covers email, SMS, WhatsApp, marketing automation, and CRM, so small teams avoid tool sprawl
  • + Starter plan starts at $9/month, well below most CRM-first competitors' entry price
  • + Predictive scoring (churn risk, lifetime value, purchase frequency) ships for e-commerce accounts at no extra cost beyond the plan

Cons

  • Sales automation workflows, unlimited deal pipelines, and extra seats beyond the single default seat need the paid Sales Essentials ($31/mo) or Sales Advanced ($64/mo) add-ons, though basic CRM, reporting, and forecasting are free on every plan
  • Professional plan jumps sharply to $499/month once you need 150,000+ emails a month, multi-user access, and extra channels
  • Pricing tracks contact count and email volume, so costs get less predictable than flat per-seat CRM pricing as lists grow
  • Free and Starter plans keep Brevo branding unless you pay to remove it

What you pay for

Brevo charges by contact count and monthly email volume, not by seat. The cheapest paid plan, Starter, starts at $9/month for 5,000 emails and drops the daily sending cap, but keeps Brevo branding unless you pay to remove it. A free plan covers up to 100,000 contacts and 300 emails a day, no credit card needed, so it works as an open-ended trial. Starter, Standard, and Professional prices are published on Brevo's site; only Enterprise pricing is quote-only.

At about $9/month to start, it is one of the cheaper options in CRM & Marketing.

It's available on Starter, Standard, Professional, and Enterprise. The Sales Advanced add-on costs $64/month and adds outreach sequences, phone/VoIP, and call recording. Brevo FAQ

Is Brevo really free?+

Yes. The Free plan is free forever, needs no credit card, and includes storage for up to 100,000 contacts, a CRM, and up to 300 emails a day. It carries Brevo branding.

Does Brevo's CRM cost extra?+

The core CRM and one sales seat are free on every plan. Deeper sales automation and extra sales seats need a paid Sales Essentials or Sales Advanced add-on, priced separately from the marketing plans.

How is Brevo priced compared with per-seat CRMs?+

Brevo's Starter, Standard, and Professional plans are priced mainly by email volume and contact count, not by user count, so cost tracks marketing usage rather than headcount, unlike HubSpot or Salesforce.

Was Brevo formerly called Sendinblue?+

Yes. Sendinblue rebranded to Brevo in 2023 to reflect its move from email marketing into a full customer platform with CRM and sales tools.
