Nhost bundles a managed Postgres database, a GraphQL API, authentication, file storage, and serverless functions into one hosted backend. You point your frontend at Nhost instead of standing up and wiring together those pieces yourself.
The GraphQL layer has run on Hasura for years. In June 2026 Nhost introduced Constellation, its own Hasura-compatible engine written in Go, as an alpha-stage lighter-weight replacement; it is not yet a full swap-in since it launched without some Hasura features like event triggers. Billing runs per organization: you pick a plan and every project under that organization shares one pool of database, storage, egress, and compute, with overage billed rather than capped.

Pro and Team are billed per organization, not per project, and include a $15/month compute credit; usage past the included database, storage, egress, and function quotas is billed separately (for example $0.20/GB database, $0.05/GB storage, $0.10/GB egress, plus metered function execution). Nhost does not pause projects for overage, it bills the extra usage instead. Custom domains cost an extra $10 per project per month on every paid plan. Enterprise is quote-only.

Is Nhost still actively developed?
Last significant update: June 2026. Nhost launched Constellation, an open-source GraphQL engine it built in Go as a near drop-in replacement for Hasura, compatible with existing Hasura metadata and permissions and using far less memory in Nhost's own benchmarks. At launch it shipped labeled alpha and did not yet support some Hasura features such as event triggers, Actions, and REST endpoints.
