ServiceM8 is a job management app built for tradespeople: plumbers, electricians, HVAC techs, and similar small field service crews. It handles scheduling, quoting, invoicing, and job tracking from a phone or tablet, and syncs with accounting software like Xero and QuickBooks.
It is priced around how many jobs you run in a month rather than how many people use it, so a small crew of five can be on the same plan as a solo operator, as long as job volume stays under the plan's cap. That makes it cheap for teams with a handful of staff and a moderate job count, and more expensive as job volume climbs.
The product is built by an Australian company and has strong roots in Australia and New Zealand, but it's used by trade businesses across the US, UK, and other English-speaking markets too.

Who it's for
- ✓ Small trade businesses (1-10 staff) that want simple job scheduling, quoting, and invoicing without paying per seat
- ✓ Solo operators and owner-operators who want a free plan to try job management software before committing
- ✓ Businesses already using Xero or QuickBooks that want a field app that syncs cleanly with their books
Who should look elsewhere
- ✗ Businesses running 20+ staff, multiple sites, or heavy sub-contractor networks that need deeper job costing and reporting
- ✗ Teams that rely heavily on recurring service jobs, since each recurring visit creates a new job number, and a new job credit, every time it fires
- ✗ Businesses that need phone support, since ServiceM8 support is chat and email only
Pros
- + Unlimited users on every paid plan, so adding staff doesn't raise the price directly
- + Free plan lets a solo operator run real jobs before paying anything
- + No long-term contract; you can upgrade or downgrade plans anytime
- + Deep native integrations with Xero and QuickBooks for invoicing and accounting
Cons
- – Job volume, not seats, decides your bill, so a busy month can push you into a pricier tier even with the same headcount
- – A job only costs one credit no matter how long it stays open, but a recurring job gets a new job number, and a new credit, every time it repeats, so heavy recurring-service businesses burn through their allowance faster than one-off job businesses with similar workload
- – Support is chat and email only; there's no phone number to call
- – The Android app has fewer features than the iOS app
ServiceM8 pricing
What you pay for
You pay by how many jobs are open in a month, not by how many staff use the app. Every plan has unlimited users, and the price steps up as your job volume grows, from a free plan capped at 30 jobs to $349 a month for 1,500+ jobs. Pricing is public and posted on the vendor's site, with a 14-day free trial on paid plans and no long-term contract.
At about $29/month to start, it is one of the cheaper options in Field Service Management.
| Plan | Price | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | 1 user only · 30 jobs a month · 10 AI uses a day · Self-serve support only |
| Starter | $29/mo | Unlimited users · 50 jobs a month · Unlimited AI uses a day · 24/7 email and chat support |
| Growing | $79/mo | Unlimited users · 150 jobs a month · 24/7 support |
| Premium | $149/mo | Unlimited users · 500 jobs a month · 24/7 support |
| Premium Plus | $349/mo | Unlimited users · 1,500+ jobs a month · 24/7 support · Extra jobs at 20 cents each |
Prices are flat monthly fees per plan, not per seat, based on a job-volume cap. A job credit is billed once per job number no matter how long that job stays open, so a single job can run for years and still cost one credit. Recurring service jobs are the exception: each occurrence gets its own new job number when it fires, so a business with many repeating service agreements burns through job credits faster than a one-off-job business with similar total workload. Going 7 days over your job cap still lets you work as normal; after that you're prompted to upgrade, except on Premium Plus where extra jobs cost 20 cents each instead. SMS is included free on paid plans; the Free plan charges 10 cents per SMS with no free allowance. ServiceM8 Phone is a separate add-on starting at $19/month.

ServiceM8 FAQ
Is ServiceM8 free?+
Yes. The Free plan covers 1 user and up to 30 jobs a month, with self-serve support only. Paid plans start at $29 a month and lift both the job cap and the user count to unlimited.
Does ServiceM8 charge per user?+
No. Every paid plan allows unlimited users. The price is set by how many jobs you run in a month, not by headcount.
What happens if I go over my job limit?+
On every plan except Premium Plus, you get a 7-day grace period where you can keep creating jobs as normal; if your plan resets in that window your job credits reset too, otherwise you're prompted to upgrade. On Premium Plus, extra jobs beyond 1,500 just cost 20 cents each instead of triggering a grace period.
Can I try ServiceM8 before paying?+
Yes. Paid plans come with a 14-day free trial with full feature access and no credit card required, on top of the separate always-free plan.
