Baseten is a platform for deploying models to production, whether that's a custom-trained model, a fine-tune, or an open-source checkpoint. You get dedicated GPU deployments billed per minute of actual use, plus a separate catalog of hosted Model APIs billed per token for popular open models.
It's built for teams that want inference infrastructure without running their own GPU clusters: autoscaling, cold-start optimization, and a CLI/MCP server for deploying and managing models from code or from an agent. Pro and Enterprise tiers add priority compute, custom SLAs, and options to self-host in your own cloud.

Who it's for
- ✓ Teams deploying custom or fine-tuned models that need dedicated GPU capacity with autoscaling
- ✓ Teams that want to swap in open-source models via a hosted token-based API without managing GPUs
Who should look elsewhere
- ✗ Teams that want a fixed monthly bill they can predict regardless of traffic
- ✗ Teams that need enterprise pricing published up front instead of a sales call
Pros
- + No idle-time billing on dedicated deployments, only pay for active compute minutes
- + Per-minute GPU rates and per-token Model API rates are published on the site, not hidden behind a demo request
- + Recent releases (CLI, MCP server, event overlays on metrics) show active platform investment
Cons
- – Traffic spikes translate directly into cost spikes since autoscaling adds GPU instances automatically, making budgets hard to forecast for bursty workloads
- – Pro and Enterprise pricing is quote-only with no published starting price
- – No genuinely free usage tier: signup credits run out and every deployment minute or token is billed after that
Baseten pricing
You pay for what you consume rather than a per-seat fee, so cost scales with usage.
| Plan | Price | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Free | Pay-as-you-go compute, no monthly subscription fee · Dedicated deployments and Model APIs · Training · Free credits for new accounts · Email and in-app chat support |
| Pro | Custom | Priority GPU access · Dedicated compute · Higher Model API rate limits · Dedicated Slack and Zoom support |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom SLAs · Self-host in your own cloud · Data residency control · Advanced RBAC and security compliance |
Basic has no monthly subscription fee: dedicated GPU deployments bill per minute of active use (T4 $0.01052/min up to B200 $0.16633/min, with no charge for idle compute), and hosted Model APIs bill per million tokens with rates set per model (for example GPT OSS 120B at $0.10 input / $0.50 output per million tokens, DeepSeek V4 at $1.74 / $3.48). New accounts get signup credits to experiment, but there is no ongoing free-usage tier once those run out. Pro and Enterprise are quote-only with negotiated volume discounts, so there is no public starting price for those tiers.

Is Baseten still actively developed?
Last significant update: July 2026. Org admins can now view every member's personal API keys alongside team keys, and metrics/logs graphs now overlay platform events so you can line up a latency spike or scaling change with its cause.
