Clay is a data enrichment and workflow platform for go-to-market teams. It pulls records from more than 200 data providers through waterfall enrichment, so if one provider fails to find a match it automatically tries the next, and it layers in AI research agents (Claygents) that can look up facts about a person or company that no structured data source has.
Teams build these lookups and enrichments inside spreadsheet-like tables, then push the enriched data into a CRM, an ad platform, or an outbound sequencing tool. Clay also has its own native email sequencer (Sequencer) and a natural-language workflow builder (Sculptor), so some teams run their whole outbound motion inside Clay rather than treating it purely as a data layer.
Pricing is metered by two separate quotas, monthly actions (each enrichment or lookup) and data credits (each unit of paid third-party data), which makes cost tied to how much a team actually enriches. Every plan, including Free, includes unlimited seats and tables, so cost has nothing to do with headcount.
Who it's for
- ✓ RevOps and growth teams that need to combine data from many providers into one enriched record
- ✓ Teams that want AI research agents to fill gaps structured data providers miss
- ✓ Outbound teams building custom, highly targeted prospect lists rather than working from a static database
Who should look elsewhere
- ✗ Small teams that just want a simple contact database with one clear monthly price
- ✗ Teams without someone willing to learn Clay's table and workflow-building model
Pros
- + Waterfall enrichment across 200+ data providers gets higher match rates than any single data source
- + Claygent AI agents can answer open-ended research questions a normal enrichment field can't, like reading a company's careers page
- + Free plan lets you test real enrichment workflows before paying
- + Frequent product releases add new integrations and data providers almost weekly
Cons
- – Usage-based pricing on actions and data credits makes monthly cost hard to predict for high-volume teams
- – Table-based workflow builder has a real learning curve compared with simpler point-and-click tools
- – Actions don't roll over month to month, so unused capacity is lost
- – Running out of credits mid-month means paying a 30% premium for top-ups on Launch and Growth plans
Clay pricing
What you pay for
Clay charges by usage, not by seat. Every plan, including Free, includes unlimited seats and tables, and your bill is set by two monthly quotas: actions (each enrichment or lookup) and data credits (each paid data pull). The Free tier gives you 500 actions and 100 data credits a month, capped at 200 rows per table, so you can test real workflows before paying. The cheapest paid plan, Launch, starts at $185/month billed monthly (or an effective $167/month if you commit to annual billing) for 15,000 actions and 2,500 data credits, and it comes with a 14-day free trial. Pricing is public on Clay's website, though the Enterprise tier is quote-only.
At about $185/month to start, it sits at the higher end of Sales Intelligence & Data pricing.

Plans include unlimited seats; price scales with the selected action and data-credit tier, not headcount. Figures shown are the total workspace price at each plan's minimum tier, billed monthly: Launch starts at $185/month (15,000 actions + 2,500 data credits), Growth starts at $495/month (40,000 actions + 6,000 data credits). Billed annually instead (paid yearly upfront), those same minimum tiers drop to an effective $167/month and $446/month respectively, a 10% discount for committing to a year. Data credits roll over up to 2x the monthly allowance on Launch and Growth (e.g. a 10,000-credit plan can bank up to 20,000). Actions reset every billing cycle and do not roll over. Top-ups cost a 30% premium on Launch and Growth.
