Codacy scans your repositories for code quality and security issues and posts the results as pull request checks. It covers static analysis, secret detection, software composition analysis, and infrastructure-as-code scanning, and layers an AI reviewer on top that comments on pull requests and suggests fixes.
It started as a code quality tool for GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket repos and has since added an AI Reviewer, AI Guardrails for coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor, and an AI Risk Hub for tracking AI-related coding policy across an org. Pricing is per developer who has committed code, not per seat you provision.

Who it's for
- ✓ Engineering leads who want one tool covering code quality, security scanning, and AI PR review instead of stitching several together
- ✓ Teams already using AI coding agents who want guardrails on what those agents can commit
Who should look elsewhere
- ✗ Teams whose main pain is false-positive volume and who need a near-zero-noise reviewer out of the box
- ✗ Small teams that just want a lightweight linter check and don't need security scanning or AI review
Pros
- + Free Developer plan and free usage for open-source projects with no time limit
- + One platform for code quality, SAST, secrets, SCA, and AI PR review instead of separate tools
- + AI Guardrails extend policy checks into coding agents themselves, not just PR checks
- + 14-day trial with no credit card
Cons
- – Reviewers report real tuning work is needed to get the signal-to-noise ratio down; out of the box it flags a lot of low-priority issues
- – Business (enterprise) tier is quote-only, so you can't compare cost against competitors without a sales call
- – Team plan is capped at 30 developers; larger teams must move to custom Business pricing
- – Support response times on email are reported as slow, often over 24 hours
- – Codacy only scans repos on GitHub Cloud, Bitbucket Cloud, and GitLab Cloud; it does not support on-premise Git deployments
Codacy pricing
What you pay for
You pay per developer who actually commits code, not per seat you set up. Developer is free forever for individuals and open-source use, Team is disclosed at $18 to $21 per developer per month, and Business (enterprise features like SSO, audit logs, and dedicated support) is quote-only.
At about $18/month to start, it is one of the cheaper options in AI Code Review.
| Plan | Price | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Developer | Free | IDE plugin for individual developers · Free forever |
| Team | $18/seat/mo | Built for teams up to 30 developers · $21/dev/month billed monthly instead of $18 billed annually · Free for open-source projects |
| Business | Custom | For larger organizations with enterprise requirements · SSO/SAML and audit logs, dedicated CSM and premium support · License scanning, DAST, and container image scanning |
Team is $18/developer/month billed annually or $21/developer/month billed monthly, capped at 30 developers. Business pricing is quote-only, contact sales. Codacy's own pricing page describes scans as cloud-hosted only and states it does not support on-premise Git deployments, so no self-hosted product tier is listed.
