Deel is a platform for hiring, paying, and managing workers around the world. It covers employer-of-record (EOR) employment, contractor management and payments, managed global payroll, and a core HRIS. Companies use it to put employees and contractors in other countries on payroll without setting up their own local legal entities.
In practice, Deel sells several separate offerings on their own price lists: EOR, contractor management, contractor-of-record, global payroll, Deel HR, Deel IT (device and identity management), and Deel Mobility (visas and work permits). Most buyers start with one module, usually EOR or contractor payments, and add others later.
Deel was founded in 2019 by Alex Bouaziz and Shuo Wang. It grew fast into one of the largest EOR providers, competing with Rippling, Papaya Global, and Remote on the employment side, and with Gusto, BambooHR, and Hibob on the HR side.

Who it's for
- ✓ Companies hiring employees or contractors in countries where they have no legal entity, and need someone else to hold the local employment risk
- ✓ Distributed teams paying contractors in many currencies who want one dashboard for contracts, invoices, and payouts
- ✓ Mid-market and enterprise teams that already use Deel for EOR or contractors and want to add HR, payroll, and IT device management without a second vendor
Who should look elsewhere
- ✗ Single-country small businesses that need domestic payroll and HR. Gusto or BambooHR costs less and does the job with less complexity
- ✗ Companies that want transparent, self-serve pricing with no per-country quoting. Several Deel product lines, including Mobility, Enterprise EOR, and IT, are partly quote-driven
- ✗ Teams that want a free HRIS long-term. Deel HR's Core module starts at $5/employee/month, not free
Pros
- + Covers EOR, contractor payments, global payroll, HR, and IT device management under one login, so distributed teams need fewer vendors
- + Contractor management charges no subscription fee to the contractor, and USD-to-USD payouts carry no currency conversion cost
- + Legal employment coverage in 110+ countries removes the need to set up foreign entities to hire full-time staff
- + Modular HR pricing lets a company buy only Core HR, or add Recruit and Develop as needed, instead of paying for one bundled price
Cons
- – EOR pricing starts at $599/employee/month and rises to $899/employee/month for Enterprise. That's far more per head than running payroll through a domestic PEO
- – No free trial on any product line. You evaluate the platform through a sales demo, not self-serve signup
- – Pricing is spread across many separate line items: EOR, contractor, contractor-of-record, payroll, HR modules, IT, and Mobility. A full multi-product quote is hard to estimate from the pricing page alone
- – Contractor-of-record jumps to $325/contractor/month, versus $49/contractor/month for standard contractor management. That's a steep increase for contractors reclassified as higher risk
Deel pricing
What you pay for
Deel charges per active worker per month, not a flat company fee. The cheapest paid tier is Core HR at $5 per employee per month, covering worker profiles, time off, and compliance insights. There is no free tier and no free trial on any product line, so you evaluate Deel through a sales demo. Most prices are published on Deel's own pricing page, though higher-tier products like Enterprise EOR, IT, and Mobility involve some quote-based pricing.
At about $5/month to start, it is one of the cheaper options in HR & HCM.

Deel sells several distinct product lines rather than one bundled plan. Prices are per active worker per month, billed monthly, and quoted directly on the vendor pricing page. We confirmed the numbers against the page's own pricing-card data, not just the rendered text. Core HR at $5/employee/month is the cheapest published entry point. EOR is the most expensive, at $599 to $899/employee/month. US PEO, co-employment for US-only hires, is a separate and cheaper line at $125/employee/month. Deel does not charge the contractor or employee a subscription fee, only the hiring company. Deel IT for device and access management is priced separately, with bundled plans from $45 to $133/user/month and a la carte modules (device lifecycle, MDM, endpoint protection, access management) from $10 to $99/user or device/month. The vendor pricing page does not list a free-forever plan or a free trial for any product line. Some third-party sites still describe a legacy 'free HR for under 200 employees' offer, but we didn't find it on the pricing or HR pages as fetched on 2026-07-06.
