What is HiBob?

HiBob makes Bob, a cloud HR platform for mid-sized companies (roughly 75-5,000 employees) that want one system for core HR, people data, and employee experience instead of spreadsheets and separate point tools. The product is built from modules a buyer can mix: Core HR and workflows, Talent (hiring, performance, learning), Payroll and benefits administration (native US and UK payroll), Workforce Planning and compensation, and a newer Finance module (Bob Finance) that surfaces headcount-driven financial metrics.

What sets the platform apart is its consumer-style interface: a social "home" feed, shoutouts, clubs, and engagement surveys sit alongside the usual HRIS functions like time off, org charts, and reporting. HiBob has also added "Bob AI" features (built on OpenAI models) for surfacing HR insights, drafting policies, and answering payroll questions. The stated design has a human approve any action that changes company data.

Pricing isn't published. Every quote is negotiated per employee based on headcount and the modules selected, plus an implementation fee, so buyers should expect a sales-driven process rather than a self-serve checkout.

Who it's for

  • Mid-sized, often globally distributed companies (roughly 75-5,000 employees) that want a single HRIS with strong reporting and an employee experience people actually use
  • HR teams that care about culture and engagement tooling (surveys, shoutouts, social home feed) as much as core HR data management
  • Companies willing to go through a sales quote and implementation process for a modular platform (HR, payroll, workforce planning, finance) they can expand into over time

Who should look elsewhere

  • Very small teams or startups on a tight budget who want transparent self-serve pricing without a sales call
  • Companies that need deep, configurable recruiting/ATS or performance-management workflows as their main requirement, since those modules are reported as thinner than dedicated tools built just for that
  • Buyers who need to see exact pricing before talking to a vendor, since HiBob is quote-only with a reported 10-20% implementation fee on top

Pros

  • + Widely praised, modern interface that reviewers repeatedly single out as one of the best in HR software, which drives higher employee adoption than older HR systems
  • + Strong built-in analytics: dozens of real-time dashboards covering headcount, turnover, and engagement without needing a separate BI tool
  • + Built for distributed, global teams with multi-currency and localized policy support baked into the core product
  • + Culture and engagement features (surveys, shoutouts, clubs) genuinely stand out against purely transactional HR systems
  • + Modular setup lets a company start with Core HR and add Payroll, Workforce Planning, or the new Bob Finance module later on the same data

Cons

  • No public pricing: every deal requires a sales quote, which makes it hard to budget or compare vendors up front
  • Implementation fee commonly reported at 10-20% of first-year contract value on top of the per-employee subscription
  • Performance management and recruiting features are reported by users as less developed than HiBob's core HR and culture tooling
  • Mobile app is more limited than the web app for some workflows, and doesn't always show company-wide leave views the way the desktop version does
  • Custom reporting and deep data exports still frustrate some users compared with dedicated analytics tools

What you pay for

HiBob charges per employee per month, based on headcount and which modules you pick (Core HR, Talent, Payroll, Workforce Planning, Finance). There's no published starting tier or list price, since every deal goes through a custom quote. HiBob doesn't offer a free tier or a self-serve free trial. Pricing is quote-only: you talk to sales to get a number.

No public entry price to compare, so budget depends on a sales quote.

Pricing is quote-only. Contact the vendor for a quote.

HiBob doesn't publish list prices. Its own pricing page (hibob.com/pricing-plans) says cost is calculated per employee based on headcount and which modules you pick (Core HR, Talent, Payroll, Workforce Planning, Finance), and sends buyers to request a custom quote. Third-party buyer reports (Vendr, CheckThat.ai, costbench.com) put real-world street pricing at roughly $6-25 per employee per month, depending on modules and negotiated volume, plus a one-time implementation fee commonly cited at 10-20% of first-year contract value. None of that is confirmed by the vendor, so startingPrice is left null.
