What is Rippling?

Rippling is a workforce management platform built around a single employee record. A company turns on modules as needed: core HR, US and global payroll, benefits administration, time and attendance, device and app management (IT), spend management and corporate cards, recruiting, and a learning management system. Change one record (a new hire, a termination, a role change) and it flows through to payroll, provisioned apps, devices, and benefits, instead of you re-entering it in separate systems.

It suits companies that want to consolidate HR and IT into one system of record instead of stitching together a payroll provider, an HRIS, and a separate device management tool. Pricing and packaging aren't published. Every deal gets a custom quote based on which modules and headcount a company selects.

Who it's for

  • Companies that want HR, payroll, IT device/app provisioning, and spend management on one employee record instead of stitched-together point tools
  • Distributed or multi-entity companies that need US and global payroll plus automated app/device provisioning tied to HR events (hires, terminations, role changes)
  • IT-heavy organizations that want device management and SaaS app provisioning/deprovisioning driven by HR workflows

Who should look elsewhere

  • Small teams that want to see exact pricing online and sign up without a sales call
  • Companies that only need simple payroll or a lightweight HRIS and don't want to pay for a modular platform priced per add-on
  • Buyers who need a hard, comparable price to shop against competitors before talking to sales

Pros

  • + One employee record drives HR, payroll, IT provisioning, and spend management, cutting duplicate data entry across systems
  • + Device and SaaS app management (MDM plus automated provisioning/deprovisioning) runs deeper than most HR platforms offer
  • + Global payroll and EOR options let one company run payroll for both US and international employees from the same system
  • + Frequent, detailed monthly product releases (e.g. the January 2026 Rundown) show steady investment across HR, IT, travel, and learning modules

Cons

  • No published pricing anywhere on the site. Every price requires a sales demo and custom quote, which makes it hard to comparison-shop
  • Modular, per-module PEPM pricing means the advertised low starting price rarely reflects what a company with payroll, benefits, and IT modules will actually pay
  • No free tier and no general free trial (only Rippling IT has a standalone 14-day trial)
  • Multi-year contract terms are common, which cuts flexibility compared to month-to-month HR tools

What you pay for

Rippling bills per employee per month, and you pay for the Rippling Platform base plus each module you turn on, like payroll, benefits, IT device management, or spend management. There's no published starting price or fixed cheapest tier. Rippling only tells you what a plan costs after a sales demo, where it builds a custom quote from your headcount and chosen modules. There's no free tier, and no general free trial. Only the standalone Rippling IT product offers a 14-day free trial.

No public entry price to compare, so budget depends on a sales quote.

Rippling's pricing page (rippling.com/pricing) lists no tier names or dollar amounts. It just says 'Tell us what services you need, and we'll send you a custom quote' behind a demo-request form. Rippling's own FAQ on that page confirms products are billed 'on a simple per-employee, per-month basis' and that each product (Payroll, Expenses, Benefits, Device Management, etc.) can be purchased separately alongside the required base Rippling Platform. Vendr's pricing-intelligence page for Rippling (vendr.com, last updated February 2026, based on anonymized real contract data) reports a base platform starting around $8/employee/month, with modules adding roughly $4-12/employee/month each, and typical blended totals of $15-50/employee/month depending on which modules are active. These are third-party contract-data estimates, not vendor-published prices, so we don't use them as the recorded startingPrice.

Rippling FAQ

How much does Rippling cost per employee?+

Rippling doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page only offers a demo-request form that leads to a custom quote based on which modules (HR, payroll, benefits, IT, spend management, etc.) and headcount you select. Third-party pricing trackers that have reviewed real contracts, like Vendr, report a base platform typically starting near $8 per employee per month before modules are added, with common blended totals in the $15-50 per employee per month range depending on modules. Rippling itself doesn't confirm these figures.

Does Rippling have a free trial?+

There's no general free trial for Rippling's core HR and payroll platform. You go through a sales demo instead. Rippling IT specifically offers its own standalone 14-day free trial.

Can I sign up for Rippling without talking to sales?+

No. Rippling's pricing page is a lead form, not a checkout. You describe the services you need and Rippling sends a custom quote instead of letting you pick a plan and price online.
